Tigress Julie Lodge

Perched on the edge of a cliff, the Tigress Julie Lodge comprises three bedrooms each catering for two guests, with one room able to sleep three. Every room features a private balcony with spectacular views of our namesake canyon. These exclusive rooms are elegantly styled in fine furnishings inspired by the landscape.

Dedicated staff attend to every need, and our locally sourced menu provides delicious dining with a singular Karoo influence.

The luxurious Tigress Julie Lodge is located in a remote part of the canyon. Tucked below the horizon, the building is hidden from the surrounding game drive areas. This off-grid eco-lodge is designed to provide maximum comfort with minimal environmental impact. Therefore, our electrical power is generated through solar panels and water is heated by solar geysers.

Your Experience

Witness, cocktail in hand, the big sky deepen across the canyon. Relax beneath our poolside lapa as the sun sets over the Karoo, and gather around the fire to share starlit stories.

Our catered game drives depart in the early morning and the late afternoon for scouted tiger sightings. These times also provide the best light for your photographs, especially when the afternoon slips into the famous golden hour — a window of light when the landscape softly glows.

Safety is of great importance to us, so tigers are viewed from the protection of a closed game viewing vehicle which has been designed to provide good manoeuvrability for big lens cameras. We are able to access most tiger locations and bring you enchantingly close to the big cats who are living natural lives hunting, swimming, mating, fighting and relaxing, as cats do.

Our staff are full of the vibrancy of local hospitality and greet guests back after each game drive with a refreshing drink. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in either the boutique dining room, under the lapa or around the fire-pit.

Guides host meals, allowing guests and guides alike to mingle over their unique but shared experience — the experience of having witnessed the mighty tiger living free of cages and captivity.
