The guides at Tiger Canyon are incredibly knowledgeable about our tigers, our cheetahs, our wildlife, the geology of the area, our birds and our plant life. They’re so skilful, they can practically speak tiger!
Our photographic prototype Land Cruiser allows photographers and videographers the best opportunities to capture our magnificent tigers in a host of natural behaviours and activities.
The photographic opportunities at Tiger Canyon are varied and unique, we guarantee that photographers will get extraordinary big cat shots and our guides are skilled in manoeuvring the vehicle into position.
Guests experience the cats up close and get to follow them off-road to ensure it’s more than just a game drive.
Our amazing chefs offer gourmet plated meals and relaxed family-style eats. Our kitchen offers both meat and vegetarian options, and our chefs cater to any dietary requirements and restrictions.
Enjoy our organic Karoo lamb dish, complemented by our signature Rosemary jus – made from ingredients grown at Tiger Canyon – accompanied by roasted potatoes, fennel salad and caramelised sweet potato.
Tiger Canyon is situated in the False Karoo. On this section of the Free State, along the Orange River, the landscape is filled with deep ravines, treed gully’s, uniquely different rocky outcrops and a balance between open grassland and spectacular canyons.
The Orange River flows into the Van der Kloof Dam (South Africa’s second largest dam), bordering the Free State and Northern Cape provinces. Views of the unspoilt dam are best enjoyed from the highest point of Tiger Canyon. Ask your guide to take you there.
Bask in the beautiful Karoo sunrise and greet nature as it starts its day with a 3-hour, expert-guided game drive.
See the Karoo night sky come alive as the sun sets slowly behind the horizon. Watch as the animals settle into the shadows with a 3-hour game drive followed by sundowners and dinner.
Breakfast or dinner are included with game drives. Full-day drives can be arranged, plus we are happy to arrange to pick you up at nearby Philippolis.
